2 Chainz was finally able to formally announce some big news with MTV’s Sway Calloway on RapFix Live Wednesday afternoon. A few seconds before officially declaring his roster spot on Def Jam Recordings, 2 Chainz revealed he’s been recording with Kanye West for the past year and hopes to release one of their collabos sometime soon.

“One thing that people may not know is that I’ve been working with Kanye West for the past year. We have records together, we have ideas that we’re planning on releasing to the world real soon. I’m tryna get my ‘N in Paris’ swag up. So at the end of the day, my new home and who I’ve been comfortable with is Def Jam Records.

Before Rap Fix, 2 Chainz basically confirmed that he has signed to Def Jam Recordings. In an XXL interview , the Atlanta rapper said that it was time for him to take a different route with Ludacris’ Disturbing Tha Peace, however, still remain label mates and will continue to work with each other.

“It’s the Real University, Two Gun Gang, Street Executives. It’s not DTP no more,” he says. “I’m actually behind [Ludacris], he’s still my homie. I just took another route as far as running my own company and bossing up. But on the other hand, I’m still working with him.”

The “Duffle Bag Boy” rapper also said that he’s planning on releasing two albums this year. He’s expected to make a formal announcement on MTV’s RapFix Live this afternoon.

The Young Money/Cash Money Empire continues to blossom. In his latest “Public Service Announcement,” Lil’ Wayne introduces 14-year-old Torion Sellers. The singer and dancer is the newest signee to Young Money, and displayed his array of talents in the video above. This follows Busta Rhymes and Mystikal signing to Cash Money Records late last week.

Aloha! From the depths of the sea to sold-out concerts and studio sessions, Derick G. shares Young/Cash Money’s recent excursion to the 50th state. Whoa, no shark diving for us.

There has never been a rapper like Lil Wayne–and there probably won’t be one akin to him for some time. Aside from being one of the few rappers who still sells considerable amount of units on the regular, his character traits keep his name in the news when he’s not holed up in the studio. The brazen yet nonchalant approach towards recording; Dwayne Carter easily churns out 200 songs annually. The stylistic dexterity that ignites his drive is merely analogical reasoning on the 3rd grade reading level and obviously wouldn’t cut it for most artists trying to find a niche in such methods. And of course, his highly public debacles (impregnating multiple women, consistent run-ins with the law, male on male lip-bonding) that would make an otherwise burgeoning rapper’s career spiral down the drain, but for Weezy, the bounds of his popularity continue to ascend through aerospace.

Recorded in preparation for his absence due to a state-appointed vacation stemming from an illegal weapons possession, I Am Not A Human Being is a direct extension of Wayne’s last outing, Rebirth, opposed to his last widely recognized album Tha Carter III. Rock-tinged anomalies of songs—much of which has be the apple of Wayne’s affection as of late—pepper the LP to distinct the recipe of his preferred cookbook. The centerpieced title track is a thrashed onslaught of heavy metal where Wayne exercises his inner rockstar to separate himself from the rest of the pack. And then there’s the chest-pounding commencement of “Bill Gates” which, has little to do with the quirky brainchild behind Microsoft except for the key factor that being ranked at the top of their respective hierarchies is what drive men to divide and conquer. Boi-1da’s grim and foreboding melody makes for the perfect soapbox for Weezy to give a signature braggadocio performance. And he dives in head first at the opportunity.

Ironically what makes this Release of the Third Kind so customary is most of its inflections represent the current trends of Hip-Hop 2K10 down to the metronome. The Drake-featured “Right About It” and “I’m Single” showcase unforgettable harmonies coupled with half-baked hooks and a plethora of punchlines that can be found in any club across the globe, night in and out. Keeping it upbeat for “That Ain’t Me,” his apparent single-hopeful with crooner Jay Sean, Wayne depicts himself the martyr with lines like “…We gotta get on our shit like gnats do/polices be on my tip like hats do/but, I just stay strong like Blacks do…” and adds a little substance to …Human Being’s hollow inconsistencies. Because like Wayne has proven countless times, making comprehendable music isn’t at the top of the list of his priorities. Whether lazily rehashing the opening line of “Bedrock” for the base of “Popular” or allowing the cronies to shoot airballs on his court on subsequent fluff “YM Banger/Salute,” there’s nothing emphasizing that his current position is engraved in stone just yet.

Wayne’s nonsensical nature will still prevent him from being celebrated amongst the game’s commonplace leaders but at this point, it’s simply syrup under the bridge. By pledging allegiance to his own twisted mothership, I Am Not A Human Being stands as cream of the crop circle.

When I first heard Tyga a few years ago, “impressed” was probably the last word I’d use to explain my reaction. Time heals all wounds though. While calling myself a “fan” these days may be pushing the envelope, I will admit I am more inclined to give his music an honest critique. Either he’s gotten a lot better, I’m listening harder or it’s a combination of the both.

Regardless, the West Coast tatted Young Moneyian has his sights set on following the footsteps of the CEO, the Canadian and the Barbie as the next member of the camp to crack the mainstream seal. Linking up with The Neptunes, “First Time” appears to be the initial look at his forthcoming album Careless World scheduled to drop at the top of 2011. As a mellow record catered to his female fanbase, ol’ boy obviously wants to show that Weezy and Drizzy aren’t the only two who can lyrically capture the opposite sex. To assist with that, he’s got your patent tranquilizing Neptunes instrumental with Pharrell lacing the hook. That combination has usually equated to a recipe for success over the years. Only time will tell if Tyga can continue the trend.

Viva la Weezy! Lil Wayne’s kind-of-new album that was recorded half a year ago just dropped, and like most of his projects, the metaphors, similes and punch lines are aplenty. Maybe it’s because we missed Wayne, but there seem to be an exorbitant amount of similes on I Am Not A Human Being. It was like Weezy said “like” every other line. Our crack research staff at TSS decided to go song-by-song, counting all of the similes for you and highlighting the dopest examples and a few that made us scratch our heads.

Maybe we just don’t speak Martian.

Song: “Gonorrhea” (Feat. Drake)

“Like” Count: 7

Dope: “I’m so ahead of my time like dog years…” – This line is so mind-bendingly awesome. It’s like a time-warp in one sentence. Our brains may explode trying to comprehend, actually.

WTF: “I ball like Solange, India Arie, Britney Spears…” – Okay, look: of all the clever homonyms in Hip-Hop, trying to stretch “ball” to sound like “bald” is the worst.

Song: “Hold Up” (Feat. T. Streets)

“Like” Count: 8

Dope: “P*ssy in the bedroom/pass that b*tch down like an heirloom..” – Weezy gets an infinite amount of credit for just using the word “heirloom.” This might be the dopest line on the entire album.

WTF: “Shoot ya in ya halo/Shoot ya like Halo…” – Wayne gets two points for the Halo reference. But he loses 40 points for just being flat-out lazy with this one. Final tally: -38.

Song: “With You” (Feat. Drake)

“Like” Count: 8

Dope: “And when I came, she caught me like the common cold…” – This is pretty much your typical Lil Wayne simile, cleverly stringing together two completely unrelated topics and brewing them into an XXX-rated fantasy romp. Definitely a line that makes a track rewind worthy.

WTF: “You got me gone like some green lights…” – Well, you can’t win ‘em all and for every genius simile, you’re bound to have a couple duds like that and Me and shawty go together like chemicals. The second one might fly with another rapper, but I’ve heard enough of Weezy to know that he can do way better. Maybe he was rushed by a prison sentence or something.
