Friday marked the six-year anniversary of James “J-Dilla” Yancey. In honor of the great producer hailing from Detroit, Big Sean released a freestyle over a classic from Jay Dee’s Donuts.

In honor of J. Dilla being one of the most influential producers of all time, I decided to lay a verse to one of my favorite tracks off of J. Dilla’s Donuts. Being from Detroit I feel I have a responsibility to honor his legacy n continue it in my own way. His soul will live forever… RIP J. Dilla

Huh? So there was an alternate version of Young Jeezy‘s “I Do” with a Drake verse on it and nobody said shit? Okay. I will say that with added verse the song now has even subject matter; Jeezy & Jay-Z rap about their marriage to the drug game while Drake joins Andre 3000 in talking about actual romantic relationships and what not. It’s also sometimes really easy to tell when people don’t record in the studio together.
