Swizz Beatz’s Megaupload Scandal

Grand revealing, grand closing. A day after Swizz Beatz was exposed as the head of the file sharing website Megaupload, the site has reportedly been shut down with employees indicted. No word if Swizz was charged. More details to come.

Swizz Beatz Under Fire For Megaupload

Wait, stop the ~~party~~ presses. According to the NY Post, Swizz Beatz is the monster behind Megaupload. Who knew?! Last month, Universal Records issued cease and desists to have promos featuring their artists removed. Mega returned fire with a lawsuit. Period.

A Mega rep told us: “We have never received any word that any artist has [individually] filed a take-down . . . [we have] legally binding agreements with the performers that appear in the video . . . They promised that they had the rights to enter into that agreement and it’s not interfering with any third-party rights.”
