If you know Devin The Dude’s music, by now you should know that most of the time the subject is based around his two favorite subjects. Pussy & Weed. And while those two subjects are also rapped about by almost every other rappers, few can make them sound as smooth or down to earth as Devin. “Gotta Be Me” is from his upcoming album of the same name and it samples Minnie Riperton’s “I Just Got To Be Free”.

Find the nearest person you know that smokes weed. If he or she is a true stoner, then I’m willing to bet they have a playlist for whenever they decide to pay herbal tribute to Bob Marley. On this playlist resides at least one Devin The Dude song. And if by chance there isn’t, then they probably aren’t getting high off weed.

Fact is, Dev was put on this Earth to smoke marijuana and rap/harmonize about its pleasures. The trend has been going on for years and as long as there’s green to burn and papers to roll it in, we’ve likely only heard half of what Houston’s resident pothead has to roll up. On November 2, The Dude will be intoxicating minds everywhere with the release of Gotta Be Me. “Jus Coolin’” is the first offering from the LP and showcases vintage vibing music. The inviting and drowsy instrumental provide a perfect segway for a near effortless combination of rhyming and crooning. Theme music for a perfect nightcap after a stressful day at the office, in the classroom or with the significant other.

Tread lightly however. By the end of the song, you should have enough THC in your system to fail your next piss test with flying colors.
