It’s one of the greatest posse cuts in hip-hop history and the perfect closer to a classic album. We’re all familiar with the original, and most of us with the remix as well, but how about the other versions of this iconic track?

Nas drops in for a verse on Green Lantern’s new tape. Does he phone it in or do we get some Nasty Nas shit? A pleasantly meandering trumpet over a sparse, hard knocking drum pattern is all Nas needs to spit some hot bars. He sets the scene by fondly reminiscing on his ‘pissy stairways [...]

Stepping into a local rap environment with no prior knowledge of it whatsoever can be quite daunting. I remember a time when I was in a record shop in Paris and even though one of my favourite hip-hop albums EVAR is a French record (IAM’s L’ecole de Micro d’Argent), my limited familiarity with the French scene prohibited me from making a choice from the massive amount of acts, most of which I’d never even heard. Now there is help.
